Twelve students from the Upper Valley Career Center Practical Nursing program turned the dream of graduating from nursing school into a reality on Tuesday, May 1, 2024. The graduation event was attended by Upper Valley Career Center staff members, family, and friends.
Congratulations to the new Practical Nursing graduates - Courtney Barhorst; Kaycee Bolling, Bethany Curtis; Mallorie Hal and Catelyn Rutherford, Piqua; Hannah Fout, Bradford; Jordan Hecht, Houston; Brianna Howard, Troy; Emma Misamore, Englewood; Emily Morris, Anna; Taylor Parmer, Urbana and Carissa VomBaur, Covington.
Duane Caudill, Upper Valley Career Center Adult Division Director, welcomed those in attendance and UVCC Superintendent Jason Haak congratulated the graduates on behalf of the school and the Board of Education.
Kaycee Bolling told those attending that nursing is not merely a career, it is a calling. She expressed thanks to the teachers, friends and family who supported and encouraged the students and congratulated her classmates. “Congratulations my dear friends. May the road ahead be filled with endless possibilities, abundant blessing and countless opportunities. May we always remember the privilege and honor it is to be called a nurse.”
Jordan Hecht also spoke to her classmates and agreed with Bolling, saying, “We’ve learned that sometimes the best medicine is simply being present for our patients, and we’ve learned that nursing is a calling to make a difference in the lives of others.”
